Tavo — Delete your data
Last updated: 23 August 2026
Tavo has no account and no sign-in. Almost everything Tavo holds about you is on your own phone, so you delete most of it yourself, in seconds, without asking us. This page gives both routes: the one you carry out on the device, and the one you ask us for.
1. Delete the data on your device
This covers your diary and everything derived from it. Any one of the routes below is enough — they all remove the same thing.
In the app
- Open Settings from the bottom bar.
- Scroll to Your data, the last group on that screen.
- Under Danger zone, tap Erase all data and confirm.
That wipes this device's ledger, food book and profile immediately. Nothing is
recoverable afterwards without an encrypted .tavo backup file that you made and
hold yourself.
Or from Android, without opening the app
- Clear the app's data: Android Settings → Apps → Tavo → Storage → Clear storage (called Clear data on some phones).
- Or uninstall Tavo. Uninstalling removes the app's storage with it.
Automatic cloud backup is switched off in the Android app, so there is no copy of your diary in Google Drive to delete afterwards.
2. Ask us to delete the data on our server
Email support@tavofitness.in with the subject Delete my data. We act on it within 30 days, as stated in the privacy policy.
There is no account for us to look you up by, so tell us which AI features you used and
roughly when. If the app is still installed and you have not cleared its data, you can also
give us your device identifier: it is the value stored under tavo_did in the
app's local storage. If you cannot supply it, say so — erasing the app's data or
uninstalling the app discards that identifier permanently on your side, and the counter
described below is never read again once its day has passed.
3. Exactly what is deleted, and what is kept
Deleted when you ask us
- The daily AI counter for your device — one small stored value per device per
day, keyed
dev:<device-id>:<date>, holding a number and nothing else. It exists only to enforce the free daily allowance, and it is not linked to your diary, your name, or anything you have logged. It carries no automatic expiry, so on request we delete it.
Deleted by you, on your device — we never hold a copy
- Your diary: every meal, item and portion you have logged.
- Your weight entries and your weight history.
- Photos you took or picked for a scan, and the small thumbnails Tavo keeps beside an entry.
- Your name, height, age, targets and every number Tavo calculates from them.
- Your own Anthropic API key, if you added one in Settings.
None of this is ever held by us at all. There is no Tavo server that stores your diary, so there is nothing here for us to delete and nothing for us to restore. Erasing it on the device is the whole deletion.
Photos sent for AI processing
When you tap a scan or an estimate, the photo and any text you typed with it are sent to Tavo's server, which passes them to Anthropic for processing and returns the result. The photo is not stored on our side — not in a database, not in a file store, not as a copy alongside the request. There is no stored photo to delete, and no deletion request is needed for one.
Kept, and why
- Request lines in the server log. Our server writes one short line per AI request — the time, the feature used, and whether the request was allowed — so the free allowance can be enforced and faults can be diagnosed. That line contains no device identifier, no diary content, no name and nothing you have logged, so there is nothing in it that could be matched to you or singled out for deletion. These lines are held by our host, Netlify, under its standard log retention and age out with it.
- An anonymous daily total across all users — one number per day counting AI requests site-wide, used to hold the shared spending ceiling. It is a total, not a record about anyone.
If you use your own Anthropic API key, none of the above applies: those requests go from your phone straight to Anthropic, no device identifier is sent, and we log nothing at all.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and raise a grievance with us at support@tavofitness.in.
